Save the Date for In Person Meetups

🌱 This year’s theme is “Sustainable Systems Start with Us” 🌎

Next month is our annual in-person regional meetups!  On Saturday, April 25, join fellow members for some face-to-face PD and networking.  You can attend any of the four regional events regardless of where you live and work.  Registration information and topic details are forthcoming, so keep an eye on our Events page. Here’s the information we have so far:

  • Central Region- Towson University, 10:00 - 2:00
  • Eastern Region- Worcester Technical High School, 9:00 - 1:00
  • Western Region- Hagerstown Public Library, 10:00 - 2:00
  • Southern Region- TBD

The mission of the Maryland Chapter is to further the mission of the CSTA, to foster a professional learning community for Maryland computer science teachers bringing together teachers, industry professionals, higher education partners, and other stakeholders for professional experiences, and promoting advocacy for high-quality computer science courses and experiences for students in the state of Maryland.

CSTA Maryland meets virtually on Zoom on the first Thursday of every month from September to June. Our next meeting will be in-person at regional meetups, and we will resume our regular virtual meetings on Thursday May 7th from 4:30-5:30.

Join us in Congratulating Mrs. Bethany Berkowitz

January Golden Crab Winner

Bethany began teaching computer science for Kindergarten through 5th graders in Baltimore County Public Schools in 2019.  She brings her love of STEM, making, and engineering into her dynamic computer science classroom. In addition to teaching, Bethany was one of the writers who developed the CS curriculum used in BCPS. She has led professional development for her peers, mentored new teachers, is an elementary CS ambassador and advocates for the inclusion of elementary computer science in every school by welcoming others to see how it looks in her classroom.
